The first of the year is a good time to get all your vaccinations up-to-date.  Strangles is a vaccination that is often forgotten until an outbreak arises.  It is better to be prepared.

Minewander, a daughter of  Lanes End freshman sire Mineshaft made a very impressive come from behind move in the G3 Arlington Washington Lassie today. to be 3rd in her first start going 1 mile.  Congratulations to the connections...Carl Pollard and David Vance.

Kadira wins the Coca-Cola Bassinet Stakes for Carl Pollard and David Vance.  This gives Kafwain another 2yo stakes winner for the Darley freshman sire.

An unlucky 3rd in her 1st start at Churchill Downs Minewander wins impressively for Carl Pollard and David Vance giving Lane's End Farm freshman sire Mineshaft his first winner.

Just a reminder that it is time for your horses' spring vaccinations.  Check with your vet as to what you need in your area.

Electrolyes are as important during the winter months as they are in the summertime.  When horses become dehydrated in the cold weather they are more prone to getting colic.  Try giving the horses luke warm water instead of the icy cold water.

Fenwick's homebred Bikini Atoll wins impressively at Tampa Bay Downs in her 2nd start for Mike Zwiesler.

Due to the recent outbreaks of various contagious diseases across the country, Fenwick Farm would like to inform all owners of the neccessity of properly vaccinating their horses.    EASTERN & WESTERN ENCEPHALOMYELITIS,  INFLUENZA, RHINOPNEUMONITIS (EHV-1 & EHV-4),  BOTULISM,  WEST NILE  and TETNUS are basic vaccinations which should begin in the foaling year.   STRANGLES and HERPES vaccines are now neccessary for  the shipping of horses.   If your horses are based on the east coast POTOMAC HORSE FEVER vaccine would be recommended.  We recommend a vaccine for VENEZUELAN ENCEPALOMYELITIS for midwest and southwest travel.  We also recommend a RABIES vaccine.  Many of these vaccines are available in 5-way and 6-way shots which make it very manageable.  Also, if a horse has never been vaccinated, many of the vaccines will require 2-3 shots at various intervals. 

All Fenwick Farm horses will be vaccinated.
